Blockchain for Governments and Cities: Adoption is increasing around the board

Key is better understanding the dynamics of Blockchain and how it offers many applications for the public sector that can improve the quality of government services, safeguard property rights, bring security, efficiency, and speed to a wide range of services and processes – providing a new approach to enhancing transparency and collaboration between governments, business and citizens.

Since there is no standard and the requirements are different in each city, the technology infrastructure is left up to each local government and that has the potential to cause some challenges. That is where Blockchain can play a role in cities by connecting these technologies together.

Blockchain has the potential to alter how we do everything from voting and building credit to receiving energy. In many ways, it could be a crucial component of what is needed to circumvent outdated systems and build long-lasting solutions for cities and governments.

Blockchain offers the possibility to create incentives to motivate the behaviour of citizens. Utilizing this functionality, cities or governments can achieve that citizens will make choices that are in the society’s best interest.

This conference aims to highlight key developments of the Blockchain technology, promote global and local actors, and reinforce governmental and city-inspired engagement with multiple stakeholders involved in Blockchain activities.

While the number of governments and cities around the world experimenting with blockchain is growing, the featured real use cases focus on how countries and cities around the world have found ways to implement blockchain technology to benefit their citizens.
